There is a desert inside me. My soul is scorched. I am naked and empty. There are no words in my mouth. — Elchanan Elkes, Lithuanian Resistance, Kovno, Lithuania
Sixty-five years after the end of World War II and the Holocaust remains hard to classify. Where words fail to provide a clearer picture, images can sometimes illustrate the enormity of what cannot be put into words. Steffan Sturm and Wolf Media have co-produced an extensive collection of still photographs dedicated to preserving the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Today, Auschwitz is a museum which promotes a global understanding of the Holocaust and educates visitors about the dangers of political extremism.
The images below represent only a small selection. For the complete documentary visit the Auschwitz site.
